If the solutions listed above are expensive for your budget, there are ways of improving your current doors STC levels significantly without spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
There are a couple of important elements you should know before improving your current door. Your hollow core door is by itself thin and not dense enough to prevent sound from transmitting through.
If your door isn’t aligned with the framing adequately, the gaps between them create a sound path that must be patched. The most significant gap is the bottom one because it creates the most significant sound leak.
