The Best Pickup Truck Campers For 2022
Are you looking for new and improved pickup truck campers? If so, there are tons of options for 2022. Whether you are looking for a lightweight unit or an all-out condo on wheels, there is a manufacturer with a model for you.
You first have to decide what your needs and wants are, and of course, your budget. Once you have the perfect camper picked out, you can choose between manufacturers.
Each person’s needs are unique, so the best pickup truck campers for 2022 are subjective of course. However, here are 4 that will have you exploring in style in 2022.
1. Bigfoot 25C10.4
Bigfoot excels in four-season campers, and with 1 1/2″ high-density insulation, a 30,000 BTU furnace, and fiberglass shell, this unit is no exception. Being a Canadian company, a rugged-built well-insulated camper is their focus.
This camper, at 3250 pounds dry, is a large unit for those looking for space and comfort.
Outdoor showers are standard along with rear electric door awnings, dual propane tanks, and heated enclosed water and holding tanks. Electric jacks also come standard to make easy work loading and unloading this large unit.
The Bigfoot camper has 49 gallons of total water storage; 39 gallons of fresh water and 6 gallons in the water heater. The grey tank is 32 gallons and the black is 21 gallons.
2. Arctic Fox 865
Arctic Fox is well known for their high-quality campers. They have some really large campers available, but the 865 is a smaller, comfortable unit.
The nice thing about Arctic Fox is that the smaller units get the same build and quality as the large ones. This is a deluxe model minus the slides. For many, more space is better, but for anyone looking for a high-quality non-slide unit, this is it.
Large tank capacities will keep you camping longer. The 865 has a water holding capacity of 42 gallons, and 32 and 31 gallons respectively for grey and black water.
The list of features and options is too long to list here, but includes Onan generators, convection ovens, solar systems, satellite, and thermal pane windows.
The all-aluminum structure is lightweight and strong. Arctic Fox is known for its well-insulated campers protecting you from both the heat and the cold.
The arched ceiling provides added headspace and allows for extra insulation in the roof where heat is often lost.
3. Four Wheel Camper Flatbed Hawk
Four Wheel Campers has been building truck campers since 1972. They deal with pop-up campers only, so they have the pop-up game mastered.
A unique option from Four Wheel Campers is their Flatbed Hawk model. Unlike traditional slide-in campers, this model is the full-width top to bottom and mounts in place of a truck bed. This means you have a floorplan with a width of 81″ all the way from the floor to ceiling.
The camper can be installed on a supplied tray or custom attached by the owner. The mounting tray provides extra outside storage and completes the rugged off-road look.
Another different feature is the mid-side entry made possible by the absence of a truck bed.
The base dry weight is just 1325 pounds, making this a light camper considering the large size. The Hawk is also unique in that it can be built as a very basic unit that is more customizable, or fitted with a toilet, shower, removable carpet, solar, and more!
4. Palomino Real-Lite HS-1803 Pickup Truck Campers
Palomino has a pickup truck camper for everyone’s needs with a lineup extending from softside pop-ups to luxury full-size units.
The HS-1803 is an all-around great camper for the majority of adventurers. Its weight and capacities are all very competitive and it has all the features you need.
This is a hard-side, cab-over design, constructed with a fully welded aluminum frame, and uses high-density block insulation. The high gloss fiberglass exterior is available in white or grey.
An on-demand water heater is standard along with a hot and cold outside shower and Maxx Air vents. A really nice feature of this model is the front cap window. The Badlands option gets you a Thule roof rack system, a 100-watt solar panel with charger, and extra battery storage.
The dry weight on this unit is 1870 pounds. It carries 21 gallons of freshwater and has 8-gallon grey and black water tanks.
With so many manufacturers and great models available, choosing the best pickup truck camper for 2022 is difficult to do. Any of the above are solid choices, however, it’s possible none of these are the right fit for you.
