Curious how to go about listing an RV on Airbnb? Or maybe you’re wondering how much extra money renting out your classic-style RV will actually get you. Whatever questions you’ve got, read on for some more information and tips!

Airbnb and RV Rentals

Airbnb really is the most reliable place to find rentals and renters. Also, this innovative website is growing rapidly and spans the globe. In fact, I used it to rent several Airbnbs during a trip to China in 2017.

You can also find some very unique and charming places to stay listed on this website. If you’re looking to rent out a houseboat, a basement, a plane, a train, a yurt, or anything slightly peculiar in that area, Airbnb has you covered. They also allow the renting out of RVs.

Whether you’re looking to rent an RV, or you’re looking at renting yours out, it’s worth taking a quick look in your area and seeing if the RV-renting interest is building there. With many of the unique homes on Airbnb, it takes a certain renter to show interest.

Renting Out Your RV

If your adorable, well-kept RV is just sitting in your backyard most of the year, begging to be taken out on a fun trip, then you might want to consider listing it on Airbnb as a place to rent.

It’s a great little side hustle in a non-saturated market. If you live in a scenic, outdoor-centered state or community, this is also super helpful! And if you’re not comfortable with renting your sweet family RV out to strangers, no worries. It’s 100% up to you (or whoever owns the vehicle).

However, if you are looking at renting your RV out, here’s a quick guide on how to get that ball rolling:

  1. Go to “Become a Host” on
  2. Type in your country, what (general) type of rental you’re listing, and the amount of space it has for potential renters.
  3. Sign in or create an account (all free).
  4. Read their “Before You Join” section for a quick understanding of the community which strives to facilitate.
  5. Under “What kind of place are you listing?”, select “Unique space” and then Camper/RV.
  6. Select what amount of the space you’ll be renting out, whether it’s used primarily by guests or not, and whether you’re listing this as a company or as an individual entity.
  7. Fill in the RV’s info (bathrooms, rooms, beds, etc).
  8. Put in a location for your RV (where would the renters need to go to pick it up or stay in it?). If you live in a rural area, this makes it a little easier.
  9. Select the amenities available and what all can be used while it’s rented (washing machine, dishwasher, etc).

Your RV is well on its way to getting listed and rented out! Depending on your area, you could be looking at an income of around $1,000/month. You could also have it listed for more or less, depending on the location of the listing, the condition of the rental, and whether or not you’re a Superhost on Airbnb. You can also charge a little more depending on the amenities and other things you might throw in.

After putting in all this info, you need to take pictures (make sure they’re nice and clean!), put in descriptions, info, and a title, and then get the place ready!

The amount of time your Airbnb listing will take to get some notice can vary a lot. Some people get renters the next day, while others might have theirs listed for a couple of months before getting someone’s interest. This can depend a lot on the time of year and it it’s camping weather.

Renting an RV from Airbnb

If you’re considering renting an RV from Airbnb, you’re in luck! This market is growing. However, the number of available RVs can depend on your area, and then you need to find out if it’s in a safe place, rented out by someone trustworthy, and whether it’s clean or not.

If you’re looking for an RV rental, follow these quick steps.

  1. Go to
  2. In the upper left corner of the screen, type in the area you’re looking at RVing in (or a nearby area you can travel to with the rented RV).
  3. Go to the “Filters” button at the top, scroll down to “Unique Homes”, and select the Camper/RV option.
  4. Usually, at least a few options will come up, but if nothing does, try a different area!
  5. If options do pop up, browse through the RVs available and go from there!

Some of them will look more professional or organized than others. If you’re looking for a rental being rented out by someone with experience, you can also try going to the “Filter” tab one more time and selecting the “Superhost” button.

This usually narrows the search down quite a bit! If you’re happy with the RVs you’re seeing, congrats. You’re on your way to renting out one of the adorable campers or RVs listed on Airbnb.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  • The host doesn’t have to be a “Superhost” to have good communication or offer an adorable, safe rental with a lot of amenities.
  • Pay attention to the pictures. Keep your eye out for pictures that look blurry or generally unattractive (having pictures of dirty kitchens or messy rooms). They don’t need to have super-professional pictures taken, but they should at least reflect a caring owner.
  • Browse a few options to get an idea of the price range you’re looking at. The price to rent for a night or a couple of nights will vary widely depending on where you’re renting!

Finally, enjoy your stay in the RV you choose, and if you love it, you can go back often and build up a professional relationship with the RVers in the area you are visiting!

Becoming an RV Airbnb Superhost

Now that you’ve seen both sides of the coin, you may be wondering something: how do Superhosts become “Superhosts”?

If you’re a renter wondering how a rental owner qualifies as an Airbnb Superhost, here’s a quick link to understand why they’re great hosts.

If you’re looking at renting out your RV or camper, and you’re wondering how you can become a Superhost and build more traffic to your rental, here’s what outlines as the necessities:

-Completed at least 10 trips OR successfully completed 3 reservations that total at least 100 nights
-Maintained a 50% review rate or higher
-Maintained a 90% response rate or higher
-Zero cancellations, with exceptions made for those that fall under our Extenuating Circumstances policy
-Maintain a 4.8 overall rating

These are come pretty good requirements for deciding which places are reliably hosted on the regular. Also, Airbnb frequently checks the accounts of those who have earned the “Superhost” badge, which helps them keep track of who is actually performing well or not.

Basically, to be a “Superhost” RV rental owner on Airbnb, you need to respond quickly to inquiries, get great reviews, avoid cancellations, build up a nearly-five-star rating, and host enough people or visits to qualify.

When you’re hosting and you’re looking for a good review, here are some quick tips:

  • Keep the place clean.
  • Provide soaps/towels/paper towels/toilet paper/etc.
  • Make the check-in and check-out processes easy and quick.

  • Make your RV or camper super adorable and/or stylish.
