We asked some local distributors from the Chicago area, Deerfield, and vicinity, which is the issue, why so many out of stock issues. They informed us that there were problems with the components required for manufacturing.
I expect that these issues are solved soon and we can reintroduce again some of these cash registers as recommendations for small business entities.

While both Sharp and Casio made excellent, high-functioning registers (that previously scored well on this list), we cannot recommend relying on a discontinued register for several reasons.
- The system may not have a manufacturer’s warranty.
- Replacement parts may not be available if something breaks.
- Many payment processors no longer integrate with discontinued registers.
- Without a detailed manual or customer support, you may struggle to program the register.
If you have a payment processor that will work with a discontinued cash register and are familiar with how to program it, you can probably make it work.
Since Casio and Sharp stopped manufacturing registers only in 2022, you may still be able to purchase a register with a year warranty and tech support. But with so many strong, well-supported registers and POS systems available at affordable prices, it doesn’t make sense to tie your business to obsolete hardware.
Royal has not communicated that they are leaving the cash register market, but their products are largely unavailable since about May 2022, and we are worried that they could discontinue their product lines. Therefore, we cannot recommend currently Royal best cash registers for small businesses. We fear that there are no spare parts available in the future if this continues.
This is a pity because Royal was always regarded as one of the best and cheapest cash registers for small business entities, despite their lack of scalability.

It should be noted that to process credit cards, you will have to add a standalone terminal from your merchant account. This model has no connection for an integrated credit card terminal.
