Beachcomber Hot Tubs Series

There are four different lines or “Series” to choose from within the Beachcomber hot tub lineup. You’ll notice that most Beachcomber hot tubs come with the same features, some of which include a cooling seat, lounger jetting, bench jetting, cooling seat jetting, and more.

These hot tubs are made for energy efficiency. In fact, next to Arctic spas, Beachcomber is one of the best hot tub brands for energy efficiency around.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the Beachcomber hot tub Series so you can find out which one is right for you.

#1 700 SLB Air Series

If you’re looking for luxury within the Beachcomber Series of hot tubs, the 700 SLB Air Series has got you covered.

This line features five high-quality hot tubs with modern designs and high-performance options.

Each tub in the 700 SLB Air Series comes with a durable Enviroskirt cabinet.

The material used on these cabinets is protected against harmful UV rays and is manufactured with a composite material that is 100% recyclable.

The outside of the tubs also features a SAFEAXISS Step system, which uses non-slip surfacing for safety while entering and exiting the tub.

As for integrated tech, you get everything you would expect from a modern hot tub. The convenient control pad gives you easy access to all of the hot tub functions. On the outer end of the tub lies the AUX MP3 connector, which allows you to dock your phone or listening device and play your favorites tunes through the built-in speakers.

You can easily control your music with the Smart Pad Music Center Controls, which includes LED back-lit buttons and an LED-backlit display for easy-to-read shuffling. Of course, the real kickers are the Britwerx Jets. You can choose the number of jets you would like installed from 1-7, adding that element of hydrotherapy to your tub.

#2 700 Series

The 700 Series is very similar to the 700 SLB Air Series in many ways.

The main difference is that it utilizes fewer tech features.

There are five hot tub models to choose from in total, providing you with a range to choose from in terms of size.

One of the main differences that you will notice right off the bat is that the lack of an MP3 AUX dock.

Other than that, it shares many of the same features as the 700 SLB Air Series, such as the step system, the Enviroskirt cabinet, the topside hot tub controller, and the Britewerx Jet system.

If you are still looking for a luxurious experience and you can live without the MP3 player, the 700 Series is a winner!

Moving into the value-centric Beachcomber tubs, the 500 Series provides exclusive features with fewer tech features than the 700 and 700 SLB Air Series.

There are six hot tubs to choose from in all, which range in terms of size.

Those looking for a more intimate hot tub experience can go with the 520 model, while those looking too party it up might opt for the larger 590 model.

The 500 Series hot tubs come with Britewerx FlexJets, a topside control system, safe steps, and Enviroskirt cabinetry! If you’re in the market for a mix of value and luxury, the 500 Series is a great choice!

Affordability is a quality that many hot tub seekers are looking for.

The 300 Series provides budget buyers with luxury at a low price.

Still, you get some of the same luxury features as the top models on the list, as well as ergonomic seating and high-quality materials, which is what Beachcomber is known for.

There are five models to choose from in total within the 300 Series.

You’ll find most of the same features as the 500 Series, though some of the tubs are a bit smaller.

One unique hot tub in the 300 Series that is worth pointing out is the 321 model.

This round hot tub is the perfect choice for those who don’t have a ton of space, though still want to enjoy all of the benefits of having a hot tub.

Overall, if you’re looking to save some cash and still get your hands on a high-quality hot tub, the 300 Series is where you should be looking.

Final Verdict – Should I Get A Beachcomber Hot Tub?

Do Beachcomber hot tubs have good reviews?

The reviews of Beachcomber hot tubs range from 1-star on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau to 4.5 stars on Google. However, Yelp and the BBB only have a handful of reviews compared to 141 reviews on Google.

And it’s also important to note that more often than not, people go to the BBB and Yelp sites when they have a problem or a beef.

So I think those platforms naturally skew ratings down. And that’s especially true on Yelp for businesses that aren’t restaurants.

But let’s look at a few of the complaints and see what we can learn:

Complaint or Issue How Many Complaints
Poor customer service 60%
Needing frequent repairs (on a new tub) 20%
More Expensive than comparable brands 13%
Mysterious white stuff in the water 7%

Interestingly, one of their Yelp reviewers even said that Beachcomber threatened to not continue to provide service on their hot tub unless they removed their negative review.

So far, I’d proceed with caution before buying from them. But let’s look at some other factors too.

What do people like about Beachcomber hot tubs?

Customers like that Beachcomber hot tubs are easy to operate and are easy to switch modes for economic savings. But they also like the Roman Arch waterfall feature. The built-in freeze protection is great for those living in cold climates.

They have evolved over that time as newer technology has come along, but the old ones are still providing hours of carefree enjoyment for lots of people.

They are easy to operate – the control panel gives you a choice of modes to automatically set up the desired temperature and timing.

Here are some examples of economy mode:

  • Away from home – the hot tub will always be in economy mode with the temperature reduced by 20° F.
  • Energy Saving – economy mode during the peak hours of the day and resume normal mode on the weekend.
  • Weekender – economy mode from Monday to Friday, and run normally over the weekend.
  • Super Energy – economy mode during peak hours, every day of the week.
  • Standard/Beginner – the hot tub will never be in economy mode and will be filtering according to the management system’s low-level configuration.

The Roman Arch waterfall is a nice feature, especially at night when the light shines through the water jets. There is also a blade waterfall to give you that sound of running water.

Other options include an Ozonator to oxidize the water and an ultra-violet lamp to reduce the amount of sanitizer required to produce crystal clear water all the time.

The Hush Pump System is tranquil with low energy consumption and high flow circulation, and all Beachcomber hot tubs have built-in freeze protection for their equipment.

Today, we’re not just wishing you all a happy #ValentinesDay, we’re also celebrating 41 years of Beachcomber! It’s been a labour of love each and every day and we couldn’t thank all of our owners more for their continued support!

How long do Beachcomber Hot Tubs last?

Beachcomber hot tubs are designed to last 15-20 years. However, with Beachcomber’s service complaints, finding a qualified local repair person can better help ensure the longevity of the hot tub.

Like all hot tubs, it is the equipment that often fails first.

The acrylic shell is coated with up to 10 layers of fiberglass to give it extra strength and rigidity, with each coat being applied by hand and then sanded down. The shell is then cured in a special kiln to control the moisture content and humidity in much the same way as a boat is made.

This is why the Beachcomber is more expensive than most hot tubs of a similar size and specification.

The seating is supported by steel I-beams, providing rigid structural support under every seat, giving Beachcomber the confidence to offer a lifetime guarantee on the hot tub shell structure.

With its Balboa control and heating system, plus PVC-glued and clamped pipework, this hot tub is certainly built to last.

That’s of course, provided you look after it and follow the maintenance regime I discussed in a recent article. I am able to get an additional 5 years of life on the hot tubs I’ve owned just by doing a few simple things regularly.

What are some common Beachcomber hot tub problems?

The most frequent complaints about Beachcomber hot tubs are issues with leaks inside the insulation & equipment malfunction. Also, the side skirts of their hot tubs are not removable, so if you need access to anything inside the sealed sides, you have to call Beachcomber or the dealer to come and fix it.

So just having to call the company to get to the underside of your hot tub is a drag.

I’ve fixed small leaks myself many times with parts costing just a couple of bucks. And it would be a real drag to have to pay for a service call every time that happened.

As with any hot tub, there are plenty of parts that can go wrong – sensor problems, a faulty circulation pump, or a defective heating element can be costly to put right, and these are not DIY jobs.

The HYBRID4 series has a problem in this respect.

With that said, other than pipework and wiring, there isn’t much in there to go wrong as the pump and heater are concealed inside the safety step.

With those key components outside the tub, you cannot reclaim the heat, and this makes the HYBRID4 prone to frost damage if there is a power outage in the depths of winter—something you may want to think about if you live in a place that has extreme weather.

The LEEP series is more conventional, with the equipment located inside the hot tub cabinet behind an access door, so everything is easy to get at.

If you follow the maintenance regime I told you about, this should keep everything in good shape.

Where are Beachcomber hot tubs made?

Beachcomber hot tubs are made in Canada with offices in Toronto, Quebec, and Vancouver. But the company was first founded in Surrey, British Columbia in 1978.

Keith Scott had a desire to build a quality product after sampling some of the hot tubs on the market at that time, so he set his company up on that basis.

Quality management is key to producing zero defects hot tubs, and this mantra runs right through their manufacturing process from start to finish.

Beachcomber has a presence in over 40 countries across the globe.

They are selling to places such as the USA, South America, Japan, Norway, Sweden, the UK, and Ireland. They ship from their development centers in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, where they also stock Rapidship and Made-to-Order hot tub models.

If you are looking for something extra-special, Beachcomber makes ultra-luxury hot tubs with all the features you want (and even some you didn’t know you wanted).

Hot tub care products are also shipped from these locations under the Beachcomber brand. Their Care Free range is a weekly water care system that replaces traditional water conditioners to control bacteria and algae growth, improve water quality, and stabilize pH levels.

Did I cover all you wanted to know about whether Beachcomber hot tubs are any good?

I hope I covered everything you wanted to know about Beachcomber. They make good, sturdy hot tubs with a lifetime guarantee on the shell.

That, together with the Balboa control and heating system, makes Beachcomber a good choice for mid to high-end portable hot tubs.
