6 person intex hot tub

We found it hard to believe that the Intex PureSpa 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub is a Budget model. With 170 bubble massage jets, cushioned headrests, and measuring a whopping 85 inches across and 28 inches deep, we thought it was probably at the luxury end of the market!

It has a high quality build, and it looks great as well, with its royal blue and white design. And when Intex say it is a 6 person portable hot tub, they are not exaggerating. You can comfortably fit in 4 adults and a couple of small children, all sitting on the cushioned floor with the water deep enough to cover your shoulders.

Of course, if you want to lay back and stretch out, then it’s big enough for 4 adults; but if you want sheer indulgence and luxury, then for two people it’s awesome. We have to say, you get a lot of hot tub for your dollars with this model, and if you’re in the market for an extra-large hot tub that gets really good reviews and feedback, then it’s worth checking out the latest deals over on Amazon.

Intex PureSpa 6 Person Spa Features & Comparisons

Background Info

The Intex PureSpa 6 Person is one of the two largest inflatable hot tubs you can buy, so it’s a great choice if you have a large family or you’re looking to entertain friends. It’s also a fantastic model if you’re looking for a portable hot tub that has a powerful massage system for hydrotherapy or water aerobics.

Because of its size, the hot tub holds 290 gallons of water and weighs over 2,500 lbs when it’s full. If you add in the weight of the 4 adults who can comfortably fit inside, then you could be looking at well over 3,000 lbs in weight. That’s about the same as a small family car!

So if you want to put your hot tub on your deck – or if you’re thinking of building a garden room for your hot tub with its own floor – please make sure that the deck or floor is strong enough to hold that much weight.

We always suggest anyone who is thinking of doing this to head over to the decksgo website as a starting point, and check out their useful article on the weight bearing capacity of decking (opens in a new tab).

The Intex PureSpa 6 person hot tub is made of rip-resistant, triple-ply PVC skin, and the walls have Intex’s own internal Fiber-Tech construction. This consists of horizontal panels of lightweight, high-strength fibers that make the walls very sturdy.

It also means the walls of the hot tub can support the weight of several adults without giving way or even buckling. This makes it ideal for anyone who is a little unsteady on their feet, as the sides will support them as they get in and out of the hot tub.

Even though it is very sturdy, this portable spa is still extremely comfortable when you lean back against the wall to relax. The floor is also cushioned for extra comfort, and you get 2 cushioned head rests included in the price as well.

Hard Water Treatment System

We know that a serious problem that can sometimes affect inflatable hot tubs is a build up of calcium in the motor, blower, and filter system. This is especially worrying if you live in a hard water area. A build up of calcium can slow down the heating system and clog up the massage jets. It also shortens the life of your inflatable hot tub.

Intex have therefore come up with a great solution for this problem, with their in-built hard water treatment system. This works by creating an electro-magnetic field in the water which turns the calcium and other minerals in the water into crystals. These crystals are then filtered out of the hot tub. Not only does this prevent the build-up of calcium on the working parts of the hot tub, it also makes the water lovely and smooth, and much kinder on your skin.

How To Set Up The Intex PureSpa 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub

The Intex PureSpa 6 Person Inflatable Hot tub is a plug-and-play model. This means it is very easy to set up, and does not need any special tools or technical knowledge.

Firstly, choose a flat area that is large enough to take the hot tub. Although the hot tub measures over 7 feet in diameter, you also need to add at least 2 feet all around for access and cleaning. Therefore, you are looking at an area that is at least 11 feet square.

Check the area is free of sharp objects, and then lay out the thermal ground sheet in the place where you are going to put the hot tub. Lay out the hot tub over the ground sheet, and attach the control unit to the hot tub with the inflator hose. Press the inflator button on the digital control panel. It will take around 10 minutes to fully inflate the hot tub.

Once it is inflated, you can move the hot tub into the exact position using the grab handles on the sides. When you are happy it is in the exact position you want, fill the hot tub with water, using a garden hose. This will take around 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the water pressure.

Top tip: If you plan on having 4 adults in the hot tub regularly, then only fill the water up to the minimum fill-line. This will prevent water overflowing when the adults get in. It will also cut down on running costs as there will be less water to heat.

When the hot tub is full, put the inflated lid on and turn on the water heater. Plan on it taking about 24 hours to reach the maximum temperature of 104F. To speed the process up, you can fill the spa with hot water from your faucet.

Enjoying Your Intex PureSpa 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub

When the water is at your preferred temperature, it is ready for you to slip into the hot tub and relax. The digital control panel is on the side of the hot tub, so you can control the water heater and massage system just by reaching out your hand.

Something we like about the Intex PureSpa 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub are the two cushioned head rests that you get for free as part of the package. These are a great add on. But: we wish Intex had included two more, so that there was one for each of the 4 adults. They only cost about $8 each, so it would have been a nice gesture!
